At just 16 years old, Elliana Tenenbaum from California has made history by becoming the youngest graduate of the Nursing program at Arizona State University’s Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation. Completing her bachelor’s degree in just 16 months, Elliana’s dedication and accelerated academic path serve as an inspiration to students of all ages.
Elliana’s Journey: From High School to Nursing School
Elliana’s academic success didn’t happen overnight. While attending El Camino High School in California, she simultaneously took college credit courses at Ventura College. This early start enabled her to fast-track her education, leading to her enrollment in Arizona State University’s accelerated nursing program.
Through this program, which is designed to help students complete their degrees more quickly, Elliana not only gained theoretical knowledge but also hands-on experience. She worked alongside healthcare professionals in local hospitals and clinics, acquiring the skills and real-world exposure necessary for her career as a nurse.
“Most of my peers know, and I have been unconditionally accepted. It’s a culmination of all the dedication put into this program and nursing,” Elliana shared.
Her focus wasn’t just on setting a record as the youngest graduate but on beginning her nursing career as early as possible.

“It wasn’t about what age I wanted to do something or what amount of time, but I knew this was the right pathway for me, and why hold myself back when I could get started,” she said.
A Passion for Nursing and Future Plans
Elliana’s aspirations go beyond her undergraduate degree. She has a strong interest in acute care and trauma, and she is also exploring opportunities in traveling nursing. Her goal is to work with at-risk populations, believing that there’s a greater sense of responsibility in caring for those who need it most.
Looking ahead, Elliana plans to continue her education, with the intention of pursuing both a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in nursing.
“I am looking forward to working with more at-risk populations because there’s a greater responsibility there and they really need it,” she said.
Her journey is just beginning, but Elliana’s drive and passion for making a difference in healthcare are clear.
