    Tasmania Graduate Research Scholarship Requirements

    To be eligible for a University of Tasmania Graduate Research Scholarships.

    • Successful applicants must have completed at least four years of tertiary education studies and have achieved at least an upper second-class Honours degree or equivalent.
    • Awards are only available to those who will be undertaking a full-time research Masters or Doctoral degree in 2024.
    • Candidates must not be receiving another equivalent award, scholarship or salary to undertake the proposed program (if that income is greater than seventy-five per cent of the base Research Training Program stipend rate).

    • Scholarship tenure extends to 3.5 years for Doctoral studies and 2 years for Masters.

    Tuition Fees

    International: Unless a Tuition Fee Scholarship has been awarded, international HDR candidates are charged tuition fees for the duration of their research degree. International candidates pay an annual fee, please see the tuition fee rates (per annum) for 2024 (PDF 184.0 KB).

    Domestic: The RTP Fees Offset covers tuition fees for domestic candidates enrolled in a research degree for the duration of the course with no extension available. The value of an RTP Fee Offsets is equivalent to the tuition fee rates (per annum) for 2024 (PDF 184.0 KB)

    Relocation Allowance

    The TGRS provides an allowance to assist with costs associated with relocating to Tasmania to undertake a Higher Degree by Research up to AUD $2,000.

    • A copy of your passport
    • A signed copy of the Supervisory support form
    • A Research Proposal 
    • Evidence of your qualifications
    • Certified copies of transcripts/academic records and testamur/degree certificates for ALL previous university studies, complete and incomplete.
    • A copy of your research thesis (from your Honours or Masters degree)
    • A Curriculum Vitae (CV), this must include the contact details of two referees
    • Evidence of English language proficiency
