Eligibility Criteria for Fulbright Scholarship for Pakistani Students

If you’re interested in applying for the Fulbright Scholarship for Pakistani Students, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Citizenship and Residency: Applicants must be Pakistani citizens residing in Pakistan throughout the application and selection process, with a commitment to returning and serving the country upon completion of their studies.
  2. Academic Background:
    • Master’s Program: Candidates need a four-year Bachelor’s degree or a combination of a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree totaling 16 years of education from an accredited institution.
    • PhD Program: Candidates must have a Master’s or M.Phil. degree (minimum of 18 years of education) from an accredited institution. Teaching, research, or public-sector experience is highly preferred.
  3. Language Proficiency: A high level of fluency in both written and spoken English is required. Selected candidates will need to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) before starting their studies. For TOEFL registration, visit ETS Portal.
  4. GRE Scores: All applicants must take the GRE General Test. A minimum score of 145 in both verbal and quantitative sections is required, with higher scores preferred depending on your field of study. Register for GRE as soon as possible.

    Note: Applicants currently attending or teaching at HEC-approved public universities in Pakistan may qualify for GRE fee reimbursement. Achieve a GRE score of 300 (engineering/science) or 290 (humanities/social sciences) and attach a reimbursement request with your complete application. How to Apply for the Fulbright Scholarship
