Overview of MTCP Scholarship

The Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS), commonly referred to as the MTCP Scholarship, is sponsored by the Government of Malaysia. It aims to draw academically talented international students from developing countries to pursue their postgraduate studies in Malaysia, promoting cultural exchange and strengthening international relationships. The scholarship application period for the 2024 academic year spans from 14 June to 14 July.

Eligibility Requirements

Eligible candidates for the MTCP Scholarship must:

  • Be nationals from MTCP participant countries listed below.
  • Be no older than 45 years at the time of application.
  • Have achieved a minimum of Second Class Upper (Honours) or a CGPA of 3.50 at the undergraduate level.
  • Fulfill English language proficiency requirements with an IELTS score of 6.0 or above, a TOEFL iBT score of 60 or above, or equivalent certifications. Alternatively, proof that a prior degree was taught in English is acceptable.

Scholarship Benefits

Beneficiaries will receive:

  • Full coverage of tuition fees for the duration of their studies (24 to 36 months).
  • A monthly stipend of RM3,500.
  • A one-time round-trip economy class air ticket from their home country to Malaysia.

Application Guidelines

Applicants need to submit their application via the official MTCP website. Essential documents include:

  • Certified copies of passport and academic transcripts.
  • Proof of English language proficiency.
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • Medical examination report.
  • Two recommendation letters.
  • Admission offer letter from a participating Malaysian university, if available.

Priority fields include:

  • Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) excluding nursing, clinical pharmacy, and medicine.
  • Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries.
  • Economics and Finance.
  • Education.
  • Environmental Sciences.
  • International Relations and Political Science.
  • Social Sciences and Humanities.
