WTO Internship Programme (Geneva)

The World Trade Organization’s internship programme brings postgraduate students to its Geneva headquarters to work on trade policy, law, economics, and related areas alongside WTO Secretariat staff.

Interns are paid a daily allowance, and assignments generally run up to 24 weeks. The roster operates year-round: you apply once and remain on the roster, from which divisions select interns as needs arise.

Competition is strong, so a focused application emphasizing trade-related coursework and research helps.

• Postgraduate student (or recently completed) in trade policy, law, economics, or a related field
• National of a WTO member or accession-negotiating state
• Age limits per the current programme rules (typically up to 30)
• Fluent English; French or Spanish an asset

• Research and analysis for a WTO division
• Support committee work, dispute settlement, or trade monitoring depending on placement
• Contribute to reports and publications

• Daily allowance for the duration of the internship
• Experience inside the global trade body
• Exposure to trade negotiations and dispute settlement practice
