About this scholarship
The Australia Awards Scholarships are prestigious international scholarships funded by the Australian Government. They aim to contribute to the development needs of Australia’s partner countries by providing opportunities for citizens of eligible countries to undertake full-time undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian universities. The program has been running for over 70 years and has supported thousands of scholars who now serve as leaders in government, academia, and the private sector across the developing world.
Eligibility
Must be a citizen of an eligible partner country (check the Australia Awards country list). Must not be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand. Minimum age of 18 at the commencement of the scholarship. Must have an offer of admission or be able to gain admission to an eligible program at a participating Australian university. Must have at least 2 years of work experience (for postgraduate applicants). Must not hold a visa that prohibits return to home country. Must commit to returning to their home country for at least 2 years after completing the scholarship.
Benefits & Coverage
- Full tuition fees at an Australian university for the duration of the course
- Return economy airfare to and from Australia
- Establishment allowance (~AUD$5,000 one-time) for setting up
- Contribution to living expenses (CLE): ~AUD$3,400/month (tax-free)
- Introductory academic program (IAP) — compulsory pre-course program
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of the scholarship
- Supplementary academic support if needed
- Pre-course English language training (if required) for up to 6 months
- Fieldwork allowance for Master's by research and PhD students
- Reunion airfare for students on awards of more than 2 years
