Chevening Scholarship 2027-28
About this scholarship
The UK Government’s flagship global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). Chevening enables outstanding emerging leaders from around the world to pursue a one-year Master’s degree at any UK university. Since 1983, over 50,000 scholars from 160+ countries have benefited. Around 1,500 scholarships are awarded each year from over 60,000 applications, making it highly competitive but genuinely accessible to candidates from developing countries.
Eligibility
Open to citizens of Chevening-eligible countries (160+ countries). Must have completed an undergraduate degree. Must have at least 2 years (2,800 hours) of work experience. Must not have previously received UK Government funding. Must return to home country for a minimum of 2 years after the scholarship ends. Cannot be a current UK citizen, dual national, or currently studying/residing in the UK.

Full university tuition fees (capped at £18,000 for MBA programs), monthly living allowance (higher rate for London), economy class return airfare, arrival and departure allowances, cost of one UK visa application, Immigration Health Surcharge covered, travel grants for Chevening events across the UK, exclusive access to networking events and workshops with high-profile speakers, internship and volunteering placement opportunities

Completed online application with four essays, CV/Resume, Two reference letters (submitted after shortlisting), Official academic transcripts and degree certificates, Passport copy, Evidence of work experience, Unconditional university offer (required after interview stage)
How to Apply
- Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country with an undergraduate degree and at least 2,800 hours of work experience
- Apply online at chevening.org during the application window (opens around August)
- Apply to three eligible UK master's courses and secure an unconditional offer from one by July
- Commit to returning home for two years
