Chevening Scholarships 2027-28
About this scholarship
Chevening Scholarships are the UK Government’s global scholarship program, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organizations. The program offers fully funded one-year Master’s degrees at any UK university. Chevening targets emerging leaders, influencers, and decision-makers from Chevening-eligible countries. Over 50,000 professionals worldwide are Chevening alumni, forming one of the most influential international scholarship networks. The 2027-28 application cycle is expected to open in September 2026.
Eligibility
Must be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory (over 160 countries). Must return to your home country for at least two years after your award ends. Must have at least 2 years (2,800 hours) of work experience. Must hold an undergraduate degree that allows entry into a UK Master's program. Must apply to three eligible UK university courses and receive an unconditional offer from at least one by the stated deadline. Must not have previously received a Chevening Award. Must not be a current employee of the UK government or any of its partner organizations.

Completed Chevening online application with four essays, CV/Resume, Academic transcripts and degree certificates, Two references (academic or professional — submitted through the online system), Proof of work experience, English language test results (IELTS — typically 6.5 overall with no band below 5.5, but varies by university), Unconditional offer letter from a UK university (required after conditional selection), Valid passport copy
How to Apply
- Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country with an undergraduate degree and at least 2,800 hours of work experience
- Apply online at chevening.org during the application window (opens around August)
- Apply to three eligible UK master's courses and secure an unconditional offer from one by July
- Commit to returning home for two years
