Commonwealth Shared Scholarships 2027-28
About this scholarship
The Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are jointly funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and participating UK universities. These scholarships are aimed at students from least developed and lower middle-income Commonwealth countries who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK. Around 150 scholarships are awarded annually for one-year taught Master’s programs. The program emphasizes development impact and expects scholars to return home and apply their learning to benefit their communities.
Eligibility
Must be a citizen of or have refugee status in an eligible Commonwealth country. Must be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country. Available to study at a UK university you could not otherwise afford. Must hold a first degree at upper second class (2:1) level or above, or a lower second class degree with a relevant postgraduate qualification. Must not have previously studied at Master's level or above.

- Warm clothing allowance where applicable
- Study travel grant for academic-related travel within the UK

How to Apply
- Apply for admission to an approved one-year master's course at a participating UK university
- Submit a Commonwealth Shared Scholarship application via the CSC online system before the deadline (typically November to December)
- Selected candidates must be approved by both the university and the CSC
