About this scholarship
DAAD EPOS (Development-Related Postgraduate Courses) offers fully funded master’s and selected PhD scholarships at top German universities for graduates from developing and newly industrialised countries. Funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), it targets professionals who will contribute to sustainable development in their home country.
Eligibility
- Citizen of a developing or newly industrialised country (DAC list)
- Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience after your undergraduate degree
- Undergraduate degree (typically Bachelor's) usually completed within last 6 years
- Language requirement varies by programme (English IELTS 6+ / German B1-C1)
- Commitment to applying skills in your home country after graduation

- Tuition fees fully waived
- Monthly stipend: €992 (graduates) or €1,400 (doctoral candidates)
- Travel allowance (unless covered by another source)
- Health, accident and liability insurance
- One-off study allowance
- Monthly rent subsidy and family allowance for accompanying dependents (where applicable)
- 6-month German language course before studies (where required)
How to Apply
- Be a graduate from an eligible developing or emerging country with a relevant bachelor's degree and at least two years of professional experience
- Apply directly to the German university offering your chosen EPOS postgraduate course, not to DAAD
- Follow each course's own deadline and procedure; you may apply to up to three EPOS programmes
