DAAD Scholarships

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers scholarships for international students to study in Germany at all degree levels.

Open to international students from all countries. Master's degree required for PhD programs. Relevant academic background for chosen field. B2 German or English proficiency depending on program.

• Monthly stipend: €934/month for Master's students, €1,300/month for PhD/postdoc researchers
• Full tuition waiver at German universities (most are already tuition-free)
• Health, accident, and personal liability insurance coverage
• Travel allowance (one-time, varies by region — e.g., €1,325 for Asia/Africa)
• Study and research subsidy: €460/year for books and materials
• Rent subsidy if not living in a student dormitory
• German language course (2 or 6 months) before your program begins — fully funded
• Family allowance for accompanying spouse/children (€276/month for first family member)
• Networking through DAAD alumni clubs worldwide

• Valid passport (min 6 months validity)
• Bachelor's and Master's degree certificates and transcripts
• Research proposal (2-5 pages)
• Two academic reference letters
• English language proficiency (IELTS 6.5+ or TOEFL 90+)
• Updated CV/Resume
• Statement of purpose / Motivation letter
• Publications list (if any)
