About this scholarship
The DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Study Scholarship is the world’s largest funding programme for international academic exchange, supporting over 100,000 scholars annually. This flagship programme funds international students to pursue a full Master’s degree at any German university. Germany offers tuition-free education at public universities, and combined with the DAAD stipend, this is one of the most comprehensive scholarship packages globally. Study begins in October 2027.
Eligibility
Open to all nationalities. Must hold a bachelor's degree completed no more than 6 years before the scholarship start. Must have excellent academic record (top 30% of graduating class recommended). Should not have lived in Germany for more than 15 months at the time of application. Must demonstrate strong motivation and clear career plan related to the chosen program.
Benefits & Coverage
Monthly stipend of €992, health insurance and accident/personal liability coverage, international travel allowance, one-off study and research allowance of €460, funding for a 2-month German language course before program starts, networking and alumni events across Germany, potential one-semester extension on application

How to Apply
- Hold a first degree (e.g. Bachelor's), generally no older than 6 years
- Secure admission to a master's programme at a state or state-recognised German university
- Apply via the DAAD portal with a CV, transcripts, proof of language proficiency, and a reference
- You cannot apply if you have been resident in Germany for more than 15 months at the deadline
