About this scholarship
The Albert Einstein German Academic Refugee Initiative (DAFI), funded by the German Government and administered by UNHCR, provides scholarships to refugee students to pursue undergraduate degrees in their country of asylum. Since 1992, DAFI has supported more than 21,000 refugees in 54 countries. The program covers tuition, living costs, and academic materials, giving refugees access to higher education and hope for a better future.
Eligibility
Must be a recognized refugee or asylum seeker under UNHCR mandate. Must be residing in a DAFI-eligible country of asylum. Must hold a secondary school certificate or equivalent qualifying for university admission. Must be admitted to or enrolled in an accredited university in the asylum country. Generally under 28 years of age (flexibility may apply). Must not have previously received a DAFI scholarship for the same level of study.

How to Apply
- Be a registered refugee or asylum-seeker in your first country of asylum with a secondary-school diploma
- Apply through UNHCR or its local implementing partner in your country of asylum
- Applications are usually made via an online DAFI form during the local call for applications
