About this scholarship
The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Scholarship Programme is one of the largest international scholarship programs in the world, supporting students from IsDB member countries (57 countries across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Latin America). The program covers undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD study at approved universities worldwide. IsDB has awarded over 18,000 scholarships since the program’s inception. The program aims to build human capital in member countries by supporting study in high-priority development fields including medicine, engineering, agriculture, science, and technology.
Eligibility
- Must be a citizen of an IsDB member country (57 countries โ see full list on IsDB website)
- Must have gained admission or be applying to an approved university for the chosen field of study
- Must be under 24 for undergraduate, under 30 for Master's, and under 35 for PhD
- Must have strong academic records (typically GPA 3.0/4.0 or equivalent)
- Must study in a field relevant to the development needs of your country (priority fields include medicine, engineering, IT, agriculture, and science)
- Must commit to returning to the home country after graduation

How to Apply
- Be from an IsDB member country or a Muslim community in a non-member country (depending on the programme), academically strong and, for several tracks, financially in need
- Apply online via the IsDB scholarship portal during the call with your documents (transcripts, certificates, ID, recommendation, and admission letter where available)
- Some tracks require nomination by a national academic institution
- The award is structured as an interest-free loan with a community-service component
