About this scholarship

The MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) Research Student Scholarship allows international students to study as research students at Japanese universities with full funding. The University Recommendation track means you apply directly to a Japanese university rather than through a Japanese embassy. This track often has less competition than the Embassy Recommendation track. Approximately 4,100 scholarships are awarded across both tracks annually.
