New Zealand Excellence Awards

New Zealand Excellence Awards help outstanding international students access postgraduate education in New Zealand. The awards recognize academic achievement and leadership potential, supporting New Zealand’s goal of becoming a world-leading education destination known for its quality, innovation, and connection to nature.

• International students (non-NZ citizens/residents) applying to a New Zealand university for postgraduate study
• Minimum GPA equivalent to NZ B+ (3.3/4.0)
• Must not have previously studied in New Zealand at the same level

• NZD $10,000 towards tuition fees
• Prestigious award recognition
• Letter of award to complement other scholarship applications

• Valid passport (min 6 months validity)
• Bachelor's and Master's degree certificates and transcripts
• Research proposal (2-5 pages)
• Two academic reference letters
• English language proficiency (IELTS 6.5+ or TOEFL 90+)
• Updated CV/Resume
• Statement of purpose / Motivation letter
• Publications list (if any)

• Be an Indian citizen (at least 18, residing in India, not a citizen/PR of New Zealand or Australia) who meets Immigration New Zealand's student-visa requirements and holds an unconditional offer for an eligible course at one of New Zealand's eight universities
• Apply through the Education New Zealand scholarships process during the application window with your offer and documents
• Awards are partial tuition reductions (typically around NZ$5,000 to NZ$20,000) decided by the universities
