About this scholarship
The Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship (formerly NZAS) is funded by the New Zealand Government and administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. It supports citizens of eligible developing countries to study in New Zealand at the undergraduate or postgraduate level. Priority study areas align with each country’s development needs. The program aims to strengthen New Zealand’s partnerships with developing countries through education and human resource development.
Eligibility
Must be a citizen and resident of an eligible developing country (see official list). Must not be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident. Must meet the academic entry requirements for the program of study. Must meet English language requirements. Must return to home country for at least two years after completing the scholarship. Priority given to applicants whose study area aligns with their country's development priorities.

How to Apply
- Be a citizen of an eligible developing country in the Pacific or Asia, aged 18+ at the start, who has lived in your home country for the two years before applying and commits to returning home for at least two years after study to contribute to its development
- Study full-time in a priority field at an eligible New Zealand institution (or a Pacific university for some Pacific scholars)
- Register and apply online through the Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship system during your country's application window (around March) with your documents and a statement of your development-impact plans
