About this scholarship
The University of Nottingham’s Developing Solutions Scholarships are among the most generous UK university scholarships for students from Africa, India, and developing countries. Up to 105 scholarships are awarded annually covering 100% of tuition fees for Master’s programs at any of Nottingham’s three campuses (UK, Malaysia, and China). These scholarships target future leaders and development change-makers who will use their education to benefit their home countries and communities. The University of Nottingham is a Russell Group university ranked in the world’s top 100.
Eligibility
- Must be a national of a country on the Developing Solutions eligible countries list (includes countries in Africa, parts of Asia, and India)
- Must be classified as an international fee-paying student
- Must hold or expect to receive an undergraduate degree with strong academic results (equivalent of a UK 2:1 or first class honours)
- Must have received an offer for an eligible full-time taught Master's program at the University of Nottingham UK campus for September 2027 entry
- Must be able to demonstrate commitment to the development of their home country

Completed scholarship application form, Personal statement (500-1000 words) on leadership, development commitment, and post-study plans, Academic transcripts from all prior institutions, Degree certificate, Offer letter from the University of Nottingham, CV/Resume highlighting community engagement and leadership, English language proficiency (IELTS 6.5+ with no band below 6.0, or equivalent), Passport copy
How to Apply
- Be domiciled in Africa, India, or a selected Commonwealth country, classed as an overseas (international) fee student, holding an offer to start a full-time master's (including MRes) at the University of Nottingham UK in an eligible faculty (Engineering, Science, Medicine & Health Sciences, or Social Sciences); not a current Nottingham student/graduate or already studying in the UK
- First apply for and receive a master's offer, then apply through the scholarship section of Nottingham's application system (NottinghamHub) with a personal statement on your development vision by the deadline (around April)
- The award covers 50% or 100% of tuition for one year
