The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) offers a fully funded 5-year PhD program in an English-speaking, international research environment in Okinawa, Japan. One of the world’s most generously funded PhD programs.

• Be in the final two years of a bachelor's, enrolled in a master's, or hold a bachelor's/master's (or equivalent) before the admission date, of any nationality, in a science-related field
• Identify an OIST faculty/research unit that fits your interests, then apply online (no application fee) with transcripts/proof of enrolment, a statement of purpose (max 400 words), a CV, and 2 to 5 recommendation letters from professorial-level referees, plus English proficiency proof if your prior degree was not taught in English
• Shortlisted applicants attend an Admissions Workshop; all admitted PhD students are fully funded via a Research Assistantship (tuition, stipend, relocation, insurance)
