Rotary Peace Fellowship 2028-29
About this scholarship
The Rotary Foundation awards up to 170 fully funded fellowships each year for emerging and mid-career leaders committed to peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and sustainable development. Fellows study at one of eight Rotary Peace Centers worldwide including Duke University/UNC (USA), International Christian University (Japan), University of Queensland (Australia), Uppsala University (Sweden), University of Bradford (UK), and Makerere University (Uganda). Master’s programs last 15-24 months and include a 2-3 month field study. Certificate programs are approximately one year with blended residential and field-based components.
Eligibility
- Open to all nationalities worldwide
- For Master's programs: bachelor's degree with strong academic record (minimum GPA 3.0 equivalent), minimum 3 years of relevant full-time work experience in peace, conflict resolution, development, humanitarian fields, or related areas
- For Certificate programs: minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience
- Must demonstrate strong commitment to international understanding and peace through professional and academic achievements
- Cannot be an active Rotary member or employee
- Not currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program

Completed online application form, CV/Resume with month and year for each position, Personal statement on commitment to peace and career goals, Research or project proposal, Three letters of recommendation (at least one academic and one professional), Official academic transcripts from all institutions attended, English language proficiency proof (TOEFL/IELTS if applicable), Passport copy
How to Apply
- Be a professional with at least three years of relevant full-time work/volunteer experience and a completed bachelor's, committed to peace and development, not an active Rotary member, and not currently enrolled in a degree programme
- Apply online through the Rotary Peace Fellowship application (open February to 15 May), ranking your two preferred Rotary Peace Centers (Duke/UNC USA, ICU Japan, Bradford England, Queensland Australia, Uppsala Sweden) and engaging with a local Rotary club/district
- If selected (notified around November), apply separately for admission to the host university; this cannot be used for doctoral study. Fully funded (tuition, fees, room and board, travel, internship/field study)
