About this scholarship
SINGA is a prestigious fully-funded PhD scholarship offered by Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in partnership with Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore Management University (SMU), Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), and Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). It supports up to 4 years of doctoral research in Biomedical Sciences, Physical Science, and Engineering.
Eligibility
- International graduate (not Singapore citizen/PR) with passion for research
- Excellent academic record at undergraduate and/or master's level
- Bachelor's degree completed (Master's preferred but not required)
- Good written and spoken English
- Strong reports from academic referees
- No specific age limit but typically early-career researchers

How to Apply
- Be an international graduate (SINGA is primarily for those studying in Singapore for the first time; Singaporeans, PRs, and those who studied at Singapore tertiary institutions are not eligible) with strong academic results and a passion for research in biomedical sciences or physical sciences and engineering
- Register on the A*STAR SINGA portal, browse research projects/labs and indicate your choice of supervisor (up to two), and complete the online application with transcripts (in English), a research proposal, and two referee reports by the deadline (around 1 December for the August intake)
- Shortlisted candidates are interviewed; covers tuition, a monthly stipend (rising after the qualifying exam), a settling-in allowance, and an airfare grant
