About this scholarship
Southern Illinois University is offering two fully funded M.S.-level Graduate Research Assistantships for international and domestic students starting in Summer/Fall 2026. The scholarship supports research in wildlife, ecology, forestry, and related environmental sciences. Selected students will receive a full tuition waiver and a minimum annual stipend of $22,000 while pursuing graduate studies and research in the United States.
Eligibility
- Applicants must have a B.S
- Degree in wildlife, ecology, biology, forestry, zoology, or a related field
- Candidates should have strong quantitative skills and familiarity with R and spatial software such as QGIS or ArcGIS
- Applicants must be able to conduct independent fieldwork in challenging outdoor conditions, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and work effectively in a team environment
- A driver’s license is preferred/required for field-based work

How to Apply
- Be admitted (or applying) to a full-time SIU Carbondale graduate programme, of any nationality
- Identify and apply for a specific graduate research assistantship posting in your department (e.g. contact the supervising faculty member for the project); assistants commit a set number of hours per week (e.g. 20 hours / half-time) to research and must enrol for the minimum graduate credit hours
- Apply through the relevant academic department (and the SIU Graduate School) by its deadline. A qualifying assistantship provides a monthly stipend and a tuition waiver (recipients remain responsible for fees)
