TU/e Scholarship for Excellence (Eindhoven University of Technology)

The TU/e Scholarship for Excellence funds top international master’s students at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, in the departments driving microchip and semiconductor innovation: Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Mathematics and Computer Science. The award pays EUR 7,500 per year across the two-year master’s, backed by the Dutch national Beethoven Program.

Eindhoven sits at the heart of the Brainport high-tech region next to ASML, NXP and Philips, which makes internships and thesis placements unusually accessible. There is no separate application: every eligible applicant with a GPA of at least 7.5 out of 10 is considered automatically. Apply for the September 2027 intake by February 1, 2027.

• Applicants to a full-time TU/e master's programme (or eligible track) in the Departments of Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mathematics & Computer Science, the fields shaping microchip and semiconductor innovation.
• Completed secondary education and bachelor's degree outside the Netherlands, with no completed higher education in the Netherlands (exchange semesters are allowed).
• Not eligible for the Dutch study grant and loan system.
• Excellent academic results, with a GPA of at least 7.5 out of 10 (or equivalent) on your latest transcript.
• Not holding another scholarship or Dutch study grant.
• Meeting all requirements for a Dutch entry visa and residence permit.
• Not applying for the joint JADS master's with Tilburg or a European Double Degree; note the selection rate is around 2 percent, so treat it as a bonus on top of a solid funding plan.

• EUR 7,500 per year for each of the two master's years, paid in monthly installments to a Dutch or SEPA bank account.
• Around 35 scholarships each year, funded by the Beethoven Program, the Dutch government's strategic investment in the microchip sector.
• Study in Eindhoven's Brainport region next to ASML, NXP, Philips and a dense high-tech job market with strong internship and thesis placements.
• Second-year payment continues if you earn at least 45 ECTS in year one and remain on track to graduate within 36 months.
• No separate application workload: eligible applicants are considered automatically.
• Note: this is a partial scholarship; you must still show sufficient funds for your visa and cover the rest of tuition and living costs.

• Complete TU/e master's application submitted through the university's online application system before the deadline.
• Certified copy of your bachelor's degree or most recent academic transcript showing a GPA of 7.5/10 or higher.
• Official English (or Dutch) translations of transcripts where applicable.
• Curriculum vitae and motivation letter as required by the master's application.
• Proof of English proficiency per the programme's admission requirements.
• No separate scholarship form exists; the master's file itself is the scholarship file.

• Pick an eligible master's programme or track in Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mathematics & Computer Science on the TU/e website.
• Submit a complete application for the September 2027 intake before February 1, 2027 at 23:59 CET; aim for early January so any file problems can still be fixed.
• Meet every eligibility condition, since the International Office screens files and forwards only eligible ones to the Scholarship Selection Committee chaired by university leadership.
• Selected candidates are notified around the end of March; the decision is final and cannot be appealed or deferred.
• If awarded, arrange your Dutch bank account on arrival so the monthly installments can be paid.
