University of Auckland International Excellence Scholarship
About this scholarship
The University of Auckland offers automatic International Excellence Scholarships to high-achieving international students enrolling in undergraduate or postgraduate taught programs. The scholarship is valued at NZ$10,000 per year and is renewable for the normal duration of the program, provided the student maintains strong academic performance. Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city, known for its stunning harbours, diverse culture, and proximity to beaches and volcanic landscapes.
Eligibility
Must be an international student (not a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident). Must be applying for a full-time on-campus undergraduate or postgraduate taught program. Must demonstrate excellent academic achievement (typically equivalent to an A average or above). Must not already hold an equivalent or higher qualification.

How to Apply
- Be a new international student (not a citizen, permanent resident, or resident-visa holder of New Zealand or Australia) holding a conditional or unconditional offer of admission, enrolling full-time and on-campus in an undergraduate degree (with overseas qualifications), a Postgraduate Diploma, or a master's of one year or more, with an admissions GPA/GPE of at least about 6.0
- You are not eligible if you have done prior tertiary study in New Zealand or are from a UoA Foundation provider, a NZ school-leaver, or a distance student
- Submit the scholarship application form online (applications open about six weeks before the closing date) by the deadline (around April for Semester 2, October for Semester 1). Up to about 50 awards, each up to NZ$10,000, credited toward compulsory first-semester tuition fees
