University of Glasgow African Excellence Award

The African Excellence Award (formerly the African Excellence Fee Waiver) is offered by the University of Glasgow, a top-100 global university, to support talented students from African countries undertaking a one-year taught master’s. It is a full tuition fee waiver that helps academically excellent African students access a Glasgow postgraduate degree.

The award provides a full international tuition fee waiver (worth around 20,000 to 30,000 pounds depending on the programme) for a one-year postgraduate taught master’s; it does not cover living or accommodation costs. Scholars study at a leading UK university in Glasgow, one of the country’s most affordable and livable cities.

Eligibility is for international-fee students domiciled in Africa and holding a passport from an eligible African country, with academic excellence equivalent to a UK first-class honours degree, starting a one-year taught master’s in any discipline (postgraduate diplomas and certificates are not eligible) and self-funding (not holding another full scholarship). You need not hold an offer to apply, but you must hold one to be considered for interview; you complete the African Excellence Award application form (with a clear career and development plan) by the deadline (around 31 March), and, if offered after interview, evidence the UKVI maintenance requirement. For academically excellent African students, it is a valuable full tuition award.
