The University of Glasgow, one of the UK’s oldest (founded 1451) and most prestigious universities, offers African Excellence Fee Waivers that cover the full international tuition fees for outstanding African students on Master’s programmes. Glasgow is a vibrant, affordable city known for its friendliness, music scene, and cultural offerings. The cost of living is significantly lower than London. The university is a member of the Russell Group with world-leading research across many disciplines.

Eligibility

Must be a national of an African country. Must have applied for a full-time, on-campus taught Master's programme at the University of Glasgow. Must hold a strong undergraduate degree (typically equivalent to a UK first class or upper second class honours). Must be self-funding (not in receipt of any other full scholarship).

How to Apply

  • Be an international-fee student domiciled in Africa and holding a passport from an eligible African country, with academic excellence equivalent to a UK first-class honours degree, starting a one-year postgraduate taught master's at Glasgow in any discipline (postgraduate diplomas/certificates are not eligible)
  • You need not hold an offer to apply, but you must hold one to be considered for interview; complete the African Excellence Award application form (with a clear career/development plan) by the deadline (around 31 March), and, if offered after interview, evidence the UKVI maintenance/living-cost requirement
  • The award is a full tuition-fee waiver (it does not cover living or accommodation costs)
