University of Macau International Student Scholarship

The University of Macau International Student Scholarship waives both tuition and on-campus accommodation fees for the normal length of a bachelor’s or master’s degree, a substantial package in one of Asia’s fastest-rising universities. Awards renew each year on satisfactory performance, and consideration happens alongside admission with no heavy separate dossier.

The scheme targets international students educated outside China, with priority for applicants from UM’s strategic partner countries, and pairs English-medium teaching with a residential college system in the Greater Bay Area. Admission rounds for 2027 entry are expected to close around March 13, 2027, and PhD candidates should apply instead for the UM Macao PhD Scholarship.

• International applicants to full-time bachelor's or master's degree programmes at the University of Macau; applicants originally from mainland China, Macao, Hong Kong or Taiwan are not counted as international for this scheme.
• Executive degree programmes and admission through the Macao four-institution joint examination are excluded.
• Meeting the admission requirements of the chosen programme; the scholarship is competitive on top of admission.
• Selection criteria include academic excellence, research ability or potential, and communication and interpersonal skills, with recommendations from the academic unit.

• PhD applicants should look instead at the separate UM Macao PhD Scholarship (MPDS), which funds doctoral students with a monthly stipend.
