The University of Melbourne offers competitive Graduate Research Scholarships (MGRS) to outstanding domestic and international students commencing Master’s by Research or PhD programs. The MGRS provides a generous living stipend, full tuition waiver, and health insurance coverage for international students.
Eligibility
Must be applying for a full-time Master's by Research or PhD at the University of Melbourne. Must hold or be completing an Honours degree (H1/First Class) or a Master's degree with a significant research component. Open to both domestic and international students. Outstanding academic record and research potential required. Research publications are highly valued.

How to Apply
- Be a domestic or international student who has applied for and meets the entry requirements for a Master's by Research or doctoral (PhD) degree at the University of Melbourne (coursework master's are not eligible)
- There is no separate scholarship application: apply for the graduate research course by the course closing date and you are automatically considered, scored and ranked on the academic achievement of your last degree and your research potential
- Awards provide a full tuition fee offset, a living allowance (around AUD 39,500/year, indexed), a relocation grant, and (for international students) Overseas Student Health Cover
