About this scholarship
UQ offers Research Training Program (RTP) scholarships for international students pursuing Master’s by Research or PhD. UQ is a member of Australia’s prestigious Group of Eight.
Eligibility
Outstanding academic record (First Class Honours or equivalent). Strong research proposal. Supervisor agreement. English proficiency (IELTS 6.5+).
Benefits & Coverage
Full tuition offset, annual living stipend of AUD 35,000 (2026 rate), Overseas Student Health Cover, relocation allowance

How to Apply
- Be a domestic or international applicant meeting all admission conditions for a UQ higher degree by research (PhD, MPhil, or research-focused professional doctorate), with strong academic merit and research potential, nominated by the enrolling UQ school/institute, and not already holding a comparable award
- Identify a suitable supervisor and project, then submit an expression of interest (EOI) for your preferred research program (completing the Scholarship/Sponsorship section); there is no separate scholarship application
- Awards (a UQ scholarship or an RTP scholarship) provide a tax-free living stipend (around AUD 37,500/year, 2026 rate), tuition-fee coverage, and Overseas Student Health Cover for international students
