About this scholarship
The University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) is one of the most generous university-funded scholarships in the Netherlands for international students. Located in Enschede, the University of Twente is known for its focus on technology, engineering, and social sciences, with a strong entrepreneurial culture — it has generated over 1,100 spin-off companies. The UTS provides scholarships ranging from €6,000 to €25,000 per year towards tuition fees for Master’s programs. The highest awards effectively make the program tuition-free for non-EU students.
Eligibility
- Must be a non-EU/EEA international student.
- Must have been offered admission to an eligible full-time Master's program at the University of Twente.
- have an excellent academic record (typically top 10-20% of your graduating class).
- Must meet the English language requirements of the program (IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 90).
- Must not receive other scholarships that cover tuition fees.

How to Apply
- Be an excellent student (typically the top 5 to 10% of your class) with a relevant bachelor's, who has applied for and received a (conditional) admission letter to a qualifying full-time UT master's (MSc) programme (pre-master's and the ITC faculty programmes are excluded), meeting the English-language requirement (around IELTS 6.5 / TOEFL iBT 90) and not having previously graduated from UT
- The scholarship application is separate from admission, so first apply for the master's and obtain your student number, then submit the UTS application by the round deadline (around February for Round 1, May for Round 2)
- Awards range from about EUR 3,000 to 22,000 for one year (around 50 per year); the scholarship does not cover the full cost of study and living
