The University of Waterloo, Canada’s top university for innovation and technology, offers the International Master’s Award of Excellence (IMAE) to outstanding international students admitted to research-based Master’s programs. Eligibility
Must be an international student admitted to a full-time research Master's program at the University of Waterloo. Must demonstrate an excellent academic record. Must not hold Canadian citizenship or permanent residency. The award is competitive and based on the overall strength of the application.

How to Apply
- Be an international student registered full-time and assessed international tuition fees, normally entering the first term of a research-based master's programme (thesis or major research paper) at the University of Waterloo, demonstrating academic excellence through your admission application and meeting your program's academic-progress requirements
- You do not apply separately: faculties nominate eligible students based on their admission applications and the faculty's award allocation (contact your department's graduate coordinator for the internal process)
- The award is valued at around CAD 2,500 per term for up to five terms
