Visa Information

  • Check whether your nationality needs an entry visa; once enrolled, apply for temporary residence for study through the Migration and Citizenship Service, usually with university help.
  • Show that you can cover tuition and living costs, with health insurance; the university confirms which documents the authorities currently ask for.
  • Medical students: confirm the program meets your home regulator's rules before you pay (for Indian students, the NMC's 2021 foreign graduate regulations).
  • Check current travel advice before visiting areas near Armenia's borders.

Study requirements

  • A completed secondary school certificate for bachelor's, or a relevant bachelor's degree for master's
  • English-taught programs: IELTS, TOEFL or another test the university accepts; Armenian-taught programs: proficiency in the language or a preparatory year
  • Official transcripts and certificates, with certified translations if they are not in English or Armenian
  • Medicine: check your home regulator first; India's NMC requires at least 54 months of study taught in English, a 12-month internship at the same university and a licence to practise in that country
  • Apply through the university's international admissions office
  • Apply for a student visa or residence permit with the university's invitation letter where your nationality needs one, with your passport, proof of funds and health insurance

Student life

Yerevan holds almost all of Armenia's universities and international students, and it is compact, walkable and inexpensive. Summers are hot and dry and winters cold, and students get around by metro, minibus and cheap taxis. English-taught medicine, popular with students from India and the Middle East, is the main draw. Confirm degree recognition with your home regulator, and check current travel advice for areas near the borders.
