Study in Kyrgyzstan

• Students who need a visa apply with an invitation issued through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the university's request, then register and get a residence permit after arrival.
• Show proof of tuition payment or funds, plus health insurance, as the embassy requests.
• Check your government's travel advice: in May 2024 foreign students in Bishkek were attacked during mob violence, and several embassies issued safety advisories.

• A completed secondary school certificate for bachelor's, or a relevant bachelor's degree for master's
• English-taught programs: IELTS, TOEFL or another test the university accepts; Kyrgyz or Russian-taught programs: proficiency in the language or a preparatory year
• Official transcripts and certificates, with certified translations if they are not in English or Kyrgyz
• Medicine: check your home regulator first; India's NMC requires at least 54 months of study taught in English, a 12-month internship at the same university and a licence to practise in that country
• Choose a medical university the government allows to admit foreign students, and check that it is on your home regulator's list
• Apply through the university's international admissions office
• Apply for a student visa or residence permit with the university's invitation letter, where your nationality needs one

Bishkek is cheap and green, with the Tian Shan mountains rising within an hour of the city, and Osh also hosts several medical faculties. Living costs are low, food is inexpensive and minibuses are the main transport. Winters are cold. Mob violence targeted foreign students in Bishkek in May 2024, so check current travel advice, register with your embassy, and confirm your university is on your home regulator's recognised list.
