- Students who need a visa apply for a student visa with the university's invitation; it is issued for up to a year and renewed in Uzbekistan.
- Many nationalities can enter visa-free or by e-visa for short stays, but full-time study needs a student visa and registration of your address.
- Show proof of tuition payment or funds and health insurance, as the embassy requests.
Study requirements
- A completed secondary school certificate for bachelor's, or a relevant bachelor's degree for master's
- English-taught programs: IELTS, TOEFL or another test the university accepts; Uzbek or Russian-taught programs: proficiency in the language or a preparatory year
- Official transcripts and certificates, with certified translations if they are not in English or Uzbek
- Medicine: check your home regulator first; India's NMC requires at least 54 months of study taught in English, a 12-month internship at the same university and a licence to practise in that country
- Apply through the university's international admissions office
- Apply for a student visa or residence permit with the university's invitation letter, where your nationality needs one
Student life
Tashkent is the main student city and home to branch campuses of several foreign universities, while Samarkand and Bukhara host medical and other universities and are linked by fast trains. Living costs are low, the Tashkent metro is cheap and summers are very hot. Russian is widely used in the cities alongside Uzbek. Medical students should confirm their program meets their home regulator's rules before enrolling.
