Why study here

Ashoka University is a private, not-for-profit liberal arts and sciences university in Sonipat, Haryana, just north of Delhi, founded in 2014 with philanthropic funding. Undergraduates follow an interdisciplinary foundation curriculum before choosing majors in fields such as economics, computer science, history, political science, psychology and English. The university also runs the Young India Fellowship, a one-year postgraduate program in the liberal arts. Teaching is in English on a residential campus, and admission uses the university's own application, assessment and interview process rather than a national exam.

Admission requirements

  • Class 12 or an equivalent for bachelor's, and a relevant bachelor's degree for master's
  • IELTS, TOEFL or another test the university accepts, unless English is your first language or you studied in English
  • Official transcripts and certificates, with certified translations if they are not in English
  • Indian students take national entrance tests (CUET for central universities, JEE for engineering, NEET for medicine, GATE for many engineering master's, CAT for MBA); international students are usually admitted on merit
  • For master's and PhD: a CV, statement of purpose and academic references; PhD applicants usually also need a research proposal and an agreed supervisor
  • A valid passport and proof that you can pay tuition and living costs for the student visa

  • Choose your program and check its entry requirements, language of instruction and deadline on the university website
