Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur
Why study here
Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur is a public engineering and research institute in West Bengal, founded in 1951 as the first IIT and first housed in the former Hijli Detention Camp. It has one of the broadest ranges of departments among the IITs, including agricultural and food engineering, architecture, ocean engineering, a management school and a law school focused on intellectual property. Teaching is in English, and undergraduate entry is through JEE Advanced, which foreign nationals can also take. Its large residential campus is in a small railway town, so living costs are low.
