Why study here

NED University of Engineering and Technology is a public engineering university in Karachi, founded in 1921 as the Prince of Wales Engineering College and later named after the philanthropist Nadirshaw Eduljee Dinshaw. Its main campus on University Road teaches civil, mechanical, electrical, computer and software engineering, among many other disciplines, together with architecture and computer science. Teaching is in English, and undergraduate admission is through the university's own entry test. Karachi is Pakistan's largest city, with a wide range of housing and transport options.

Admission requirements

  • Teaching is in English; IELTS or TOEFL is needed only by international applicants who did not study in English
  • Official transcripts and certificates, with certified translations if they are not in English
  • An entry test: the university's own test or a recognized one, such as ECAT (engineering), MDCAT (medicine and dentistry) or NUST's NET; many universities ask for GAT or HAT for MS and PhD
  • International applicants apply through the foreign admissions office; foreign degrees need HEC equivalence
  • Undergraduate admission is through NED's own entry test.
