ETH Zurich Excellence Scholarship (ESOP) 2027

The Excellence Scholarship and Opportunity Programme (ESOP) is ETH Zurich’s flagship award for master’s students, covering full study and living costs: CHF 12,000 per semester plus a complete tuition fee waiver, alongside mentorship and access to the ETH Foundation network.

Around 60 scholarships are awarded for each academic year across all ETH master’s programs, aimed at students in roughly the top 10 percent of their bachelor’s cohort.

The next application window is 1 to 30 November 2026 for master’s programs starting in autumn 2027. You apply through the regular ETH online master’s application (eApply) and tick the ESOP option, with decisions communicated by the end of March.

• Very strong bachelor's record (roughly top 10 percent of your program)
• Complete the ESOP application within the eApply master's application
• Open to all nationalities

• CHF 12,000 per semester toward living and study costs

• Transcripts and ranking evidence
• CV and motivation materials as required
• Two reference letters
• Pre-proposal for the master's thesis (as required by ESOP)

• Prepare your ETH master's application before November 2026
• Submit via eApply between 1 and 30 November 2026 with the ESOP option
• Program admissions committees evaluate candidates
• Decisions are sent by the end of March 2027
