Israel Government Scholarship

The Israel Government Scholarship is offered by Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under bilateral cultural agreements, to support international students and researchers to undertake graduate study or research at Israeli universities. It is aimed at building academic ties between Israel and other countries, with a focus on fields where Israeli research is strong.

The award is a partial scholarship: it provides a partial or full tuition reduction, a monthly stipend contribution of around 800 to 1,000 US dollars, and housing assistance at some universities, along with access to Israeli research networks and industry connections. It typically covers a full academic year of about eight months, or a shorter summer Hebrew language programme.

Eligibility is for citizens of any country (not Israeli citizens) who have been accepted to or are applying to an Israeli university for graduate study, with a strong academic record and proficiency in Hebrew or English depending on the programme; fields aligned with Israeli strengths such as cybersecurity, agritech, cleantech, and life sciences are preferred. You first secure acceptance at a recognised Israeli institution, then apply through the Israeli Embassy or consulate in your home country by their deadline, with the application pack, academic records, references, and a study or research plan. For students drawn to Israel’s research strengths, it is a valuable supported route.
