Japanese Government MEXT scholarship is among the world’s most generous. Monthly stipend of ~$1,000. Covers undergraduate, research, and professional training. 6-month Japanese language prep included.

How to Apply
- Apply before arriving in Japan via either Embassy Recommendation (through the Japanese Embassy/Consulate in your home country, which runs the first screening) or University Recommendation (via a Japanese university)
- Embassy-route candidates who pass the first screening contact a prospective Japanese university for a Letter of Provisional/Acceptance
- Submit the application forms, a health certificate, transcripts, and a field-of-study/research plan; categories cover undergraduate, research (graduate), and other students
