Rotary Global Grant Scholarships
About this scholarship
Rotary Global Grant Scholarships fund graduate study abroad with a minimum of USD 30,000 per award, for degrees that advance Rotary’s focus areas: health, water and sanitation, education, peace, economic development and the environment. Every scholarship is sponsored by a local Rotary club and district, which partner with a host district near your university to build the grant.
There is no central deadline: districts run their own selections year-round, so the winning move is approaching clubs in your city about twelve months before you plan to start. For service-minded applicants, the two-community backing and mentorship make this far more than a check.
Eligibility
- Graduate-level applicants whose planned studies fall within Rotary's areas of focus: peacebuilding and conflict prevention, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, community economic development, and the environment.
- Sponsorship by a local Rotary club or district in your home country, which co-creates the grant with a host district near your university.
- Admission (or strong prospects of admission) to a graduate program abroad aligned with the chosen focus area.
- A record of community service and a credible plan to apply your degree to measurable impact.
- No fixed nationality restrictions; availability depends on your local district's funding and priorities.
- Rotary members and their close relatives face restrictions, so check the participation rules.
Benefits & Coverage
- Scholarships funded at a minimum of USD 30,000, frequently higher when districts add funds.
- Coverage can include tuition, living costs, travel and insurance as budgeted in the grant.
- Backing from two Rotary communities, home and host, providing mentorship and networks on both ends.
- Open field of universities worldwide, as long as the program matches a focus area.
- Strong alumni identity within Rotary's global service network of 1.4 million members.
- Possible multi-year support for longer graduate programs where districts agree.

- University admission letter or evidence of application to the intended graduate program.
- Study and impact plan linking your degree to a Rotary focus area.
- CV, transcripts and references demonstrating academic and service records.

How to Apply
- Locate Rotary clubs in your city through the club finder on rotary.org and approach them early with a concise proposal.
- Work with the club and district scholarship chairs, since applications are club-sponsored rather than direct.
- Districts run their own timelines year-round, commonly selecting 6 to 12 months before study begins, so treat the process as rolling and start a year ahead.
- Develop the global grant application jointly with the home and host districts in Rotary's online grant system.
- Secure university admission in parallel, as grants are approved against a concrete program.
- After approval, comply with reporting requirements during and after your studies.
