About this scholarship
The Schwarzman Scholars program, inspired by the Rhodes Scholarship model, is a one-year Master’s degree program at Tsinghua University in Beijing, one of China’s most prestigious universities. The program focuses on global affairs, leadership, and China’s role in the world. Approximately 200 scholars from around the world are selected each year to live and study together in the purpose-built Schwarzman College. The program combines academics with cultural immersion and leadership development.
Eligibility
Open to candidates of any nationality between 18 and 28 years of age at the time of enrollment. Must hold a Bachelor's degree before the program starts. No prior knowledge of Chinese language required (program is taught in English). Must demonstrate leadership potential, intellectual ability, and a desire to understand China and contribute to global progress. Open to candidates from all academic backgrounds.

How to Apply
- Hold (or be on track to complete by the August before enrolment) an undergraduate degree in any field, be under about 28 to 29 years old, with strong English (all teaching is in English; Chinese is not required), of any nationality
- Submit the online application with academic transcripts, essays, recommendation letters, and a CV by the deadline (Mainland China/Hong Kong/Taiwan/Macao applicants around May; all other applicants around September)
- Attend an interview if shortlisted. Fully funded: tuition, room and board, travel to and from Beijing, an in-country study tour, health insurance, and a personal stipend
