Eligibility
- Must be a citizen of an African country
- Must be under 35 years old at the time of application
- Must demonstrate strong academic ability and potential
- Must come from a socio-economically disadvantaged background with financial need
- Must demonstrate leadership potential and commitment to giving back to their community
- Must have been admitted to or be applying for an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate program at UCT
- Must commit to working in Africa for at least 2 years after graduation

How to Apply
- Be an academically talented young African from an economically disadvantaged background with leadership potential, applying as a first-time undergraduate or postgraduate (honours/master's) student
- First apply for academic admission to UCT to obtain your UCT application code
- Then complete the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program application online via the UCT MCF portal (passing the eligibility quiz) during the annual call (around July to September); scholars commit to returning to their home countries
