Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships 2027

The Vanier CGS is Canada’s premier doctoral scholarship, worth CAD 50,000 per year for three years, awarded to top PhD candidates in health research, natural sciences and engineering, and social sciences and humanities. International students are fully eligible.

You cannot apply directly: you must be nominated by the Canadian university where you intend to study, so the real deadline is your university’s internal one, which usually falls in September or October, ahead of the national deadline in early November.

Start by securing admission interest and a supervisor at a Canadian university in summer 2026, then complete the Vanier application through that university’s nomination process.

• Pursuing your first doctoral degree (including joint programs like MD/PhD)
• Within the allowed months of doctoral study at the nomination deadline
• First-class average in each of the last two years of study
• International and Canadian applicants are equally eligible
