How to Apply
- Wellcome funds four-year PhD studentships in biomedical science and health research, delivered through host-university PhD programmes; do not apply to Wellcome directly
- Be a graduate (or expecting a relevant degree), of any nationality (UK and Republic of Ireland nationals pay home fees, while others, including EU/EEA nationals, pay international fees, but the studentships cover fees in full); medically, dentally, or veterinary-qualified applicants apply instead via Wellcome's PhD training routes for clinicians
- Contact and apply to an individual Wellcome-funded PhD programme at an eligible host (in the UK or Republic of Ireland, some with low- or middle-income-country partners) by that programme's annual deadline; some programmes use a foundation/rotation year and co-develop the project (no supervisor or proposal needed at application). Covers a stipend, fees, and research/training costs (note: grant funds cannot be transferred into mainland China)
