Study in Spain

Spain combines affordable living with world-class business schools and a vibrant cultural experience.

• Apply for a student visa at the Spanish consulate (or a student stay authorisation in Spain); since May 2025 it covers the whole degree
• Funds: 100% of the IPREM index each month (about EUR 600 a month in 2026), plus tuition
• Work: up to 30 hours a week alongside study, with no separate work permit, under the regulation in force since 20 May 2025
• Graduates can apply for a permit of up to 12 months to look for work or start a business, then switch to a work permit

• A secondary school certificate for bachelor's; non-EU certificates usually need UNEDasiss accreditation, sometimes with its subject tests (PCE)
• A relevant bachelor's degree for master's; your degree may need legalisation or an apostille
• English-taught programs: IELTS, TOEFL or another test the university accepts; Spanish-taught programs: DELE or SIELE, usually at B2
• Apply through the university's online application portal
• Official transcripts and certificates, with certified translations if they are not in English or Spanish
• For the visa: admission letter, a valid passport, health insurance, police and medical certificates for long stays, and proof of funds (100% of IPREM a month)

Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Granada and Salamanca have large student populations. Daily costs are moderate, though rents in Madrid and Barcelona are high, and meals and social life start late. Cities have good public transport, and high-speed trains link the main regions. Summers are very hot in the south and centre, and in Catalonia, Valencia and the Basque Country some classes and paperwork use the regional language.
