ILO Internship Programme (Geneva and field offices)

The International Labour Organization runs internships at its Geneva headquarters and field offices, in areas such as labour law, employment policy, social protection, statistics, and communications.

Interns who are not sponsored by an institution receive a monthly stipend from the ILO to cover basic living costs (the rate depends on the duty station).

The ILO posts internship roster calls and specific vacancies on its jobs site through the year; internships run 3 to 6 months.

• Enrolled in the final year of a graduate program, or completed one within the past year
• Field of study relevant to ILO work
• Working knowledge of English, French, or Spanish (a second one is an asset)
• First-time ILO interns only (one internship per person)

• Support research, drafting, and data work in an ILO unit
• Assist with meetings of governments, employers, and workers' groups
• Duties depend on the hosting department

• Monthly stipend where not otherwise funded
• Inside experience of the UN agency for the world of work
• Supervision and a completion reference
