About this scholarship
The Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS), managed by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) under the Ministry of Education, funds international students at over 280 Chinese universities. Available at bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels across all fields. One of the largest scholarship programs globally, with multiple sub-tracks including Bilateral Programme, Chinese University Programme, and Silk Road Programme.
Eligibility
- Non-Chinese citizen in good health
- Bachelor's applicants: 18-25 years, high school graduate
- Master's applicants: 18-35 years, Bachelor's degree
- PhD applicants: 18-40 years, Master's degree
- Provide HSK (Chinese language) score if programme is Chinese-taught
- Provide IELTS/TOEFL if programme is English-taught
- Not already studying in China on another Chinese government scholarship

- Monthly stipend: CNY 2,500 (Bachelor's), CNY 3,000 (Master's), CNY 3,500 (PhD)

- No airfare for most tracks (excludes Bilateral Programme which includes one return ticket from some countries)
How to Apply
- Register on the CSC Online Application System (studyinchina.csc.edu.cn)
- Choose your category: Type A (via Chinese embassy/bilateral), Type B (via the university), or Type C
- Obtain the agency number and apply to your chosen Chinese university and/or embassy
- Submit transcripts, study plan, physical examination form, and references before the deadline
