About this scholarship
The Open Doors Scholarship is an international competition organized by the Association of Global Universities of Russia in partnership with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Winners gain admission to any participating Russian university under the government quota — meaning 100% tuition coverage at 24+ top Russian universities (HSE, ITMO, MGU, etc.).
Eligibility
- Open to international citizens (excluding Russian citizens)
- Must hold or be completing a relevant prior degree (Bachelor's for Master's, etc.)
- No GPA cutoff officially, but excellent record helps
- No entrance exam requirements (Olympiad replaces them)
- Language proficiency in English OR Russian (depending on program)
- Cannot hold another Russian government scholarship at the same time

How to Apply
- Be a non-Russian international applicant meeting the track requirements (high-school completion for bachelor's; a bachelor's for master's; a master's/specialist for the doctoral track; a PhD for the postdoctoral track)
- Register free on the Open Doors website during the window (around September to November), build your portfolio, and take the online competition/olympiad and second-stage assessments in your chosen subject area
- Winners are admitted tuition-free under the Russian government quota at a participating university (doctoral winners select a research supervisor); programmes are in Russian or English, with a free preparatory Russian course available
