Chalmers IPOET Scholarship (Sweden)

The Chalmers IPOET Scholarship reduces tuition fees by 75 percent for talented fee-paying master’s students at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, and students who excel in year one see the reduction rise to 85 percent for the second year. Around 35 awards are made each cycle, funded by the Swedish Council for Higher Education.

All Chalmers master’s programs are eligible, from computer science and data science to architecture, biotechnology and electrical engineering. Selection is based on relative academic excellence, so a strong GPA and a solid home university matter most. Apply through universityadmissions.se and submit the scholarship form by January 15, 2027.

• Citizens of countries outside the EU/EEA (and Switzerland) who are required to pay tuition fees for Swedish university studies.
• Applying to the first year of a master's programme at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg; all master's fields are eligible.
• Meeting the general and programme-specific admission requirements of the chosen programme.
• Selection is on relative academic excellence, mainly your weighted average grade (roughly 80 percent of the scale maximum or better to be competitive).
• The standing of your home university, including global rankings, is also weighed.
• Ranking Chalmers as your first priority among Swedish applications significantly improves your chances.
• Only prospective (not current) Chalmers students can apply, and the award is made before your first year starts.

• 75 percent reduction of tuition fees across all four semesters of the two-year master's programme.
• Students who excel in year one can have the reduction increased to 85 percent for the second year.
• Around 35 IPOET scholarships each year, funded by the Swedish Council for Higher Education and administered by Chalmers.
• Your financial situation is not assessed, and holding other partial funding does not hurt your chances.
• Chalmers also runs the Adlebertska (Adlebert) scheme for students from developing countries, assessed from the same application.
• Note: no cash is transferred to you; the waiver is applied directly to your tuition invoices, so budget separately for living costs in Gothenburg.

• Master's application submitted at universityadmissions.se, where you receive an eight-digit application number.
• Separate Chalmers scholarship application form, completed with that application number before the scholarship deadline.
• Academic transcripts and degree certificates uploaded to universityadmissions.se per Swedish national rules.
• Proof of English proficiency (IELTS or TOEFL) per programme requirements.
• CV and any programme-specific documents listed for your master's choice.
• Note that the scholarship deadline matches the programme application deadline, not the later deadline for supporting documents.

• Apply to at least one Chalmers master's programme at universityadmissions.se during the international round (mid-October to mid-January), putting Chalmers first if you are serious about the scholarship.
• Note your eight-digit application number as soon as you submit.
• Complete the Chalmers scholarship application form with that number before January 15, 2027; earlier submission speeds up assessment.
• Upload all supporting documents to universityadmissions.se by the national documentation deadline (early February).
• Scholarship decisions are communicated between March and May together with admission outcomes, and you must confirm acceptance of the offer.
• The waiver is then applied automatically to your tuition invoices for the whole programme, subject to normal study progress.
